Disturbing rise in transphobia

The release of the Australian report Fuelling Hate: Abuse, Harassment, Vilification and Violence Against Trans People in Australia undertaken by the Trans justice project paints a disturbing picture of the rapid escalation of transphobia across Australia.

This report aims to draw the attention of decision-makers, the media, the public, corporations, opinion leaders, and local authorities to the alarming situation faced by trans Australians.

As feminists, we respect the fight to defy gender stereotypes, to strive to live fully and authentically, without laws and policies that constrain us based on sex or gender.

To live openly and freely as transgender is to seek the same freedoms desired by cis-women.

FPAA primary member organisations are made up of people who also reflect gender as well as sexual diversity – staff, board members, volunteers and sector partners.
